Whitney Meilan is a writer, artist, dog mom, noodle-enthusiast, and creator of Mixed Change. She is a mixed race, Asian-American woman born in Hong Kong and raised primarily in Shanghai, China.

Whitney’s vision for Mixed Change is to amplify the voices of people directly impacted by injustice, and to challenge normative narratives that further oppression and injustice.

Whitney has worked with individuals and groups fighting for migrant justice, abolition, racial justice, international human rights, Indigenous self-determination, trans rights, and so much more.

She believes that storytelling and cultural work have to be part of any movement for change.Whitney earned her MA Social Justice & Human Rights from Arizona State University, and her BA Sociology & Cultural Studies from University of London.

She has over ten years of experience working at nonprofits and social enterprises, most recently as the director of programming and communications at a grassroots human rights organization.

In her spare time she likes to go for long nature walks with her husband and three dogs, whom she often refers to as munchkins.

Amanda is a self-taught multi-disciplinary Artist and Brand Designer. She (or They) is a non-binary BIPOC individual dedicated to learning more about decolonization, re-indigenization, and what it means to be a global citizen.

Amanda’s chosen work is to build humanesque narratives that bridge and foster intimacy through Illustration, Graphic Design, and most recently, Animation. In her career, Amanda holds a decade of exploration in Branding, primarily through non-profit and wellness/holism.

Her other passions include human biomechanics, indigenous healing arts, anthropology, crafting, video games, and her 6-y/o pup, Chase!

Ema is a queer, interdisciplinary web developer and graphic designer deeply committed to alternative technologies, digital privacy, and sustainable web infrastructure. They thoughtfully integrate creative design with historical references drawn from social and political people’s movements, integrating layered cultural context into media for social change. When not on their computer, they enjoy traveling and learning new languages.

Ema holds an Associate’s degree in Graphic Design, a BA in Arts & Labor Studies, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Cultural Data Studies & AI at the University of Amsterdam. With over five years as a freelance web developer, they emphasize accessibility and ethical technology in digital spaces. Beyond tech, Ema remains actively involved in labor movement organizing, focusing on policy advocacy, particularly for women in the informal economy. Certified in Sex Work Public Education and Advocacy, they continue to build on their commitment to social justice through both their work and studies.

ShaDrena is a multidisciplinary graphic designer specializing in brand design, web design, and development. She finds purpose in creating brand experiences for culturally rooted organizations that have a story to tell, giving them new life through design.

With over 10 years of experience, ShaDrena has led marketing and design initiatives for non-profits, startups, and SMBs as both a freelancer and full-time employee. She holds a BS in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and an MS in Marketing from East Texas A&M University.

Always exploring her creativity, in her free time, you can find her drawing letters, snapping photos, and seeking inspiration through her travels.

Hayley Hatherell is a marketing and communications consultant and narrative strategist with more than a decade of experience helping organizations define their positioning, articulate their value and communicate complex ideas with clarity.

Working across the private, public and third sectors, Hayley has supported organizations ranging from grassroots non-profits and community groups to educational institutions, public bodies and international brands. Her experience spans strategic communications, organisational positioning and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on helping organizations navigate growth, transformation and evolving public expectations.

Her career has ranged from national awareness campaigns to organizational change projects. She began her career supporting Jeans for Genes, one of the UK’s most recognised fundraising campaigns raising awareness of genetic conditions, and has since advised organizations on public engagement, reputation, strategic planning and brand development. More recently, her work has included facilitating leadership workshops, shaping positioning strategies and helping organizations translate complex structures and ambitions into clear, audience-focused narratives.

Hayley is particularly passionate about helping mission-led organizations communicate with greater confidence, ensuring their expertise and impact are understood by the audiences they most need to influence.

Janice is a graphic designer with eight years of industry experience working for design agencies. She has a BA from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in Sustainability and Social Practice. She loves supporting good causes, and cares deeply about human and animal rights.

In her free time, Janice enjoys hobbies like drawing, painting, and jewelry, and hopes to get back into printmaking and ceramics one day. A recent SF transplant, she likes to go on roadtrips, try new restaurants, and go on scenic hikes that aren't too strenuous.
